Hard Cake?....Nah!

I've been periodically talking about all the earrings I make. I have hundreds of beads, and a practically an unlimited supply of gadgets to take apart. What if you don't have any beads or gadgets you want to destroy? Fear not! Look no further than your boyfriend's, husband's, or even your own toolbox! Metal or rubber washers, nuts, wire, springs, resisters, etc. Anything goes, be creative, plus he'll probably never miss it :)


I found the easiest white cake recipe ever.

You can use different extracts instead of just vanilla to give it a different flavor. I added lemon zest to mine (about 1 1/2 t.) and it turned out very well. I also used soymilk instead of regular milk. This cake is extremely moist and I have even found that you don't even need frosting for it, just use a sprinkling of powdered sugar or sprinkle colored sugar on it before you put it in the oven. You could probably even add fruit either canned (there will be extra juice added which will make the batter thinner) or fresh, nuts, etc. Use your imagination.....even if it doesn't turn out the way you want, take it to work.....they'll eat it anyways (at least that's how it goes at my job) :)

    I love cake, but making it myself takes forever which is the only con. But other than that, its cheaper, and you can make it whatever flavor you want!

    If you coat it with a layer of simple syrup (water + sugar) after the cake is done baking, it helps to moisten the cake!

Free Pattern: Easy Striped Baby Blanket

I created this light and airy baby blanket, and it seems to crochet up pretty quick.  It is for personal use only, and it took a while to figure it out, so please respect that.  Do not sell the pattern or the final product.  Thanks! I used size J hook and sport baby yarn.  *Note: Ch 3 counts as 1st DC* Ch 113 R1: DC in 4th ch from hook.  DC in next 10 ch.  Ch 1, *DC, ch 1, DC, ch 1, DC, ch 1, DC, ch 1, 11 more DC*.  Repeat from * to * until you reach the end of the row.  Turn. Quick Pineapple Peacock Scarf

I came up with this on the spot.  Takes a couple hours to make and it's extremely customizable in length and yarn.  This was yarn I got from another sweater that I bought for a couple dollars from the thrift store.  This pattern is for personal use only it took me a couple hours to make the pattern, please respect that.  Do not sell the final product or the pattern.  Thanks! Pineapple Peacock Scarf Note: Gauge is not important.  Use a hook appropriate for thickness of yarn.  Scarf is made by creating two separate pineapples and then attaching the yarn to one.  The length with then be crocheted and the second pineapple will be attached at the end.
