Granny Fail!

I'm always posting patterns and projects...well, this project is a total FAIL!!  Behold the granny triangle:

Innocent enough, this granny square has been the bane of my existence.  The idea of a triangular granny square was so novel, I wanted to create a vibrant blanket.....over a year and a half ago.  With all the colors I wanted to add, as well as different types of yarn, which was a rookie mistake.  It started to bubble up in the middle and wouldn't lay flat:

Through this process I've learned several things:  

1. Don't use different weights of yarns together--which I should have already known.
2. Two triangles with equal sides do NOT make a square--again I should have known this.
3. It takes a lot of work to put together multiple colors so they look good together.
4. I absolutely hate piecing blankets together.
5. The triangular granny pattern is no longer novel and we are no longer friends.

I ended up taking it apart and using the yellow yarn for a different blanket.  Somehow the triangles themselves disappeared, and I have no intention of looking for them at this time.

    Looks like my granny square blanket. Same bubbles.

    A couple things:
    - crochet the holes closed where the triangles meet
    - block the blanket (google how to block your blanket)
    - give it away as soon as possible. To a child, if you can't bear to give it as a baby gift

    Next time, block each triangle before sewing together.

    And, if it is still bubbling up, frog the part you just combining and find a looser join. Google 12 ways to combine granny squares.

    Oh, and lastly, stop looking at pictures of granny square blankets. Kid you not, you will be talking yourself into making one sooner than later, if you do. I should know, I already want to make another one of these.

Flower thong pattern...FINALLY!

Here is the long awaited pattern for the flower thong. I did use a smaller hook than what I had used on the purple undies, but I similarly used crochet size 10 thread. Flower Thong Pattern: **Pattern is worked starting with the string, then the body of the thong, then the ties. sh= shell= 3 dc in one st **NOTE: I made this pattern to fit me...I wear about a 6 size undies. If you wear bigger or smaller, you will need to adjust the ties accordingly. I also made the ties so they could be just double knotted, not tied in bows, so if that's what you're looking for, you would need to add more as well. Free Pattern: Easy Striped Baby Blanket

I created this light and airy baby blanket, and it seems to crochet up pretty quick.  It is for personal use only, and it took a while to figure it out, so please respect that.  Do not sell the pattern or the final product.  Thanks! I used size J hook and sport baby yarn.  *Note: Ch 3 counts as 1st DC* Ch 113 R1: DC in 4th ch from hook.  DC in next 10 ch.  Ch 1, *DC, ch 1, DC, ch 1, DC, ch 1, DC, ch 1, 11 more DC*.  Repeat from * to * until you reach the end of the row.  Turn. R2: Ch 3 and DC in next 10 st.  Repeat from * to * until you reach the end of the row. Repeat R2 until you are satisfied with the length.  The width of the blanket is about 42".
