Crafty Elements

So I picked this shirt up at a thrift store on base...btw, the thrift stores here suck....so anyways, I picked a plain blue shirt at a thrift store. I cut the neck, and am debating on cutting it out more. And I painted this design on with fabric paint using a paintbrush and a sponge brush (I think that's what they are called). (Oh my god, what a dirty mirror!) I saw this hat and it looked so comfortable I had to make it. It was quick, easy, and also a good stash buster. I think I will modify the half double crochet portion and I am going to make it smaller to fit better. However, it will probably be a while until I try the pattern again.

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. I've been having technical issues with having access to a camera. Hopefully everything is fixed and will stay fixed :) Here is the same hat that I made last time that was black and purple, only I realized that I did the band wrong on the first one. I thought I knew what I was doing, but didn't. It was supposed to be cabled. I took it out and ended up fixing it, but gave it away anyways. This one I used one hook size bigger since the first one seemed to be tight and I only went under one stitch instead of both stitches which creates the lines you see with the blue. Another action shot. I was thinking of adding a purple pom-pom at the end, but I'm not sure. Very comfy Here is me doing twisted cables. They were fairly easy to do, but it was difficult when I had to do the criss-cross to make it look twisted. However, I was doing my lines and it caused it to become poofy since the cables make it tighter, and making the lines...

Sorry I was MIA last week. I just started a new job and was exhausted last week. Here are the goodies I made: Okay, I didn't really "make" anything with these, but they are cardboard circles that I cut from the big boxes so that I can make some wreaths for xmas. I have some things in mind, but not 100% sure. I used a pin and measuring tape to mark the cardboard like a compass. This is actually April Draven's Dark Faery Slouch hat. Sorry for the sideways picture. It turned out differently than I expected, but I think I still like it. Another pic....sorry if these pics are bad. It's pretty much a stocking cap type of deal. This hat turned out ridiculous. Too big and it looks weird on my head, lol. I will be taking this out and making something else. I also made another slouchy hat, similar to the red one made out of cotton, but I decided since I already had one in a similar color so I didn't need it. So overall, this week was not a good week for crochet...

This shirt was originally short sleeve, and the neckline was all the way up to the neck. I cut the sleeves and sewed the edges for a more finished look. I also cut the neckline....a little too big. So then I decided to crochet around the neckline. However, I'm still not happy with it. I was thinking about cutting out a diamond a little below the neckline and crocheting in the hole, but I'm not sure. I think the color bugs me (it's peach if you can't tell in the picture). I may just give it away, since I have been working on it for several months now. I had previously was working on a purple shrug, but I bought the yarn last year at Joann's and can no longer find it. So I finally gave up and took it apart :-/. It was sad, but I happy that it wasn't lying around anymore collecting dust. The red hat that I previously posted had the same fate. I had used the Pretty Puffs Slouchy Hat Pattern as a guide, and instead of using single crochet I used double croc...

Yesterday I posted a red hat that I decided was too small or "not slouchy enough". So...I pulled it apart, added more, and now it sits weird. But I will not give up! I will win! Here it is pulled apart. I cut the double crochets and tied them individually so it would not unravel. I then added 2 more rows of double crochet to the circular part (left pic). I tied it off and single crocheted the two pieces together. However, it is tighter where I single crocheted it, so it sits funny on my head. I think I may pull it apart again and just continue where I left off at the circle and use the other piece as something else...a headband maybe? *sigh* So it was a late dinner....didn't have much around the house because I didn't feel like grocery shopping today. I had a box of pasta and a bag of frozen broccoli....what do I do with that? I found my camera charger! What does this mean? A much happier Stephi and pictures for you :) Some of the crafts are much harder to describe without them. So...lets get down to business. First of all, I just randomly threw together Hershey's Hot Fudge Pudding Cake, and it smells so yummy, I can't wait! This is a very easy recipe but a little tricky, so I highly suggest that you give the directions a once-over before you make it.
