Spiral Baby Blanket: free pattern

This pattern is for personal use only, please do not sell the pattern or product, as I am giving it to you for free and it took several hours to write it down.

Spiral Baby Blanket Pattern: Approx. 36" in diameter.  I used worsted weight baby yarn with an H hook.

Ch 5 and join.

R1: Ch up 3, 11 dc in circle.  Join.
R2: Ch up 4.  *dc 1, ch 1* in each dc around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R3: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R4: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 2 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R5: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 3 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R6: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 4 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R7: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 5 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R8: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 6 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R9: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 7 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R10: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 8 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook
R11: Ch up 4.  *dc in ch sp and next 9 dc.  Ch 1* around.  Join in 3rd ch from hook

Fasten off and tuck in strands.

    No, you work the pattern in a round (more or less crochet in a continuous circle). That is why you chain up 4, to get yourself to another row.

    Are you working in US or UK stitches?
    How many balls/ skeins of wool did it take to make this size?

    I work it in US stitches. I don't remember exactly how many skeins….I would say 1 1/2-2.

    This is my new favorite pattern for baby blankies! I used Red Heart Super Saver, two 7 oz skeins, and an J hook. By 31 rows is was 48 inches across, so I added a reverse single edging and stopped! My friend called it a Baby Doily. Thank you for the pattern!

    while making this blanket, should it be flat? perhaps i've done something wrong it seems to be rippling, any idea what i've done or how to undo it? ive started and restarted it 3 times :s

    hoping you can help. im attempting this blanket but rather than making up flat it is rippling, is this normal? will it flatten over rows? if not, any idea what i've done wrong, ive started then ripped apart the blanket 3 times..... HELP!

    it should be pretty flat when you are making it. make sure you are increasing stitches each row, as per instructions. other than that, make sure your stitches are consistent.

    Thank You for the great pattern!! I crochet/knit afghans for our local Children's Hospital and this is going to be one of my "Go To" patterns!! The children get to take the afghans home when they get to go home. This is going to be a great pattern to make in BRIGHT colorful yarn. I'll probably do stripes of different colors to add more brightness and pattern for the kids. Thanks again and God Bless You. Judi

    I did this for a baby shower gift and need it at round thirty and added a ruffled edge as the last three rounds. The mother was in awe of it. Thank you for sharing this pattern.

    Sorry to say, you would have to add another skein of yarn. If you do not follow the pattern, it will become uneven.

      Yes, you would just continue the pattern, so R38 would have 36 dc in between increases, R39 would have 37 dc in between increases, R40 would have 38 dc in between increases, etc.

Free pattern for Simple Tapered Leg Warmers

I've been recently frustrated with my crochet and needed an quick, easy pattern to get rid of some of my stash.  So I found a pair of leg warmers... Great!  Except my gauge was totally off because I almost always refuse to check it since it takes so much time and bothers me since i have to pull extra out of my skein....long story short....I ended up creating my own pattern.  Note: These are meant to be more fitted, and you may have to adjust the size. **This pattern is for personal use only, and it took me several hours to create.  Please do not sell this pattern or the final product.  Thanks! These leg warmers are a little tapered at the bottom because I wanted to make sure they didn't just come off or make their way under my heel.  The pattern is worked in rounds and my calves are about 14".  Ch 3 and Ch 2 count as a dc or hdc, EXCEPT for the last round.
