Flower thong pattern...FINALLY!

Here is the long awaited pattern for the flower thong. I did use a smaller hook than what I had used on the purple undies, but I similarly used crochet size 10 thread.

Flower Thong Pattern:

**Pattern is worked starting with the string, then the body of the thong, then the ties.
sh= shell= 3 dc in one st

**NOTE: I made this pattern to fit me...I wear about a 6 size undies. If you wear bigger or smaller, you will need to adjust the ties accordingly. I also made the ties so they could be just double knotted, not tied in bows, so if that's what you're looking for, you would need to add more as well. Also this pattern is for personal use only, please do not sell the pattern or the undies, as I am giving it to you for free and it took several hours to write it down. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and please let me know if I need to tweak the pattern. Thanks, and enjoy!**

Ch 60, sc in 2nd from hook and in each ch. When you get to end ch, 5 sc & “go around corner”. Sc in each ch, on the opposite side of previous sc. 4 sc in last st & join with last ch.

row 1: ch 3, dc in next 2 sc. ch 3, turn.(you are working at one end, not working in the round at this point in time)
row 2: 2 dc in same st as ch3. ch 3, sh in last st. ch3, turn.
row 3: 2 dc in same st as ch3. ch 3, dc in middle of ch 3 from previous row (crochet around the ch, not in the middle ch). sh in last st, ch 3, turn.
row 4: 2 dc in same st as ch3. ch 3, sk 2 st, sc in next 3 st. ch 3, sh in last st. ch3, turn.
row 5: 2 dc in same st as ch3. ch 3, sk 2 st, sc in next 5 st. ch 3, sh in last st. ch3 turn.
row 6: 2 dc in same st as ch3. ch 3, sh in next ch 3 sp. ch 3. sk 1 st, sc in next 3 sts. ch3, sh in next ch 3 sp. sh in last st. ch3, turn.
row 7: 2 dc in same st as ch 3. ch 3, 1 dc in ch 3 sp. ch 3, sh in next ch 3 sp. ch 3, sk 1 st, 1 dc in next st. ch 3 and sh in next ch 3 sp. ch 3, dc in next ch 3 sp. ch 3, sh in last st. ch 3, turn.
row 8: 2 dc in same st as ch 3. ch3, sk 2 ch, sc in next 3 st, ch 3. sh in next ch sp. ch 3, sh in next ch sp, ch 3. sk 2 ch, sc in next 3 st. ch 3. sh in last st, ch 3, turn.
row 9: 2 dc in same st as ch 3. ch 3 , sk 2 ch, sc in next 5 st, ch 3. sh in ch 3 sp, ch 3. sk 2 st, sc in next 5 st. ch 3, sh in last st. ch 3, turn.
row 10: 2 dc in same st as ch 3. ch 3, sh in ch 3 sp, ch 3. sk 1 st, sc in next 3 sts. ch 3, sh in next ch 3 sp, ch 3. sh in next ch 3 sp, ch 3. sk 1 st, sc in next 3 sts. ch 3, sh in next ch 3 sp, ch 3. sh in last st. ch 3 turn.
row 11: 2 dc in same st as ch 3. ch 3, dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 3. sh in next ch 3 sp, ch 3. sk 1 st, dc in next st, ch 3. sh in next ch 3 sp. dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 3. sh in next ch 3 sp, ch 3. sk 1 st, dc in next st, ch 3. sh in next ch3 sp, ch 3. dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 3, sh in last st. ch 3, turn (this row is similar to row 3)
**by now you should have a pattern repeating***
row 12: similar to row 4
row 13: similar to row 5
row 14: similar to row 6
row 15: similar to row 7
row 16: similar to row 8
row 17: similar to row 9
row 18: similar to row 10
row 19: similar to row 11
row 20: similar to row 12, except, don’t turn.
row 21: starting on the front ties: chain in multiples of 3+ 4. chain as many as you like to make it longer. I believe I did about 57 and my ties are 7”. 2 dc in 4th ch from hook. sk 2 ch, *sh, sk 2 ch* and repeat from * to * until you reach the corner. dc in next 3 st (previous sh), ch 3. ^sk next 3 st. 5 dc in next 5 st. ch 3, sk next 3 sts. sc in next 3 sts^. repeat from ^ to ^ until you reach the other corner. Mirror what you did on the other side (chain the same amount and repeat the same pattern) fasten off.

Starting on the back ties:
On the opposite side of the initial string that you made, you should have 5 sc that “go around the corner”. Attach string to 2nd sc on the right side and chain in multiples of 3+ 4, similar to when you did the front ties. I would recommend these be a little longer than the front ties because they have to go around your back as well. I believe mine are around 67 and are about 3-4” longer than the front ties. Repeat the pattern as you did for the front ties (2 dc in 4th ch from hook. sk 2 ch.....etc.). When you come back to where you attached the string to the back, 3 dc in the middle 3 sc from the 5 sc “going around the corner”. Chain again, the same number as you did on the other side (mine would be 67 again) and repeat the same pattern as you did for the front ties (2 dc in 4th ch from hook. sk 2 ch.....etc.). Fasten off and tuck in strings.

  2. I mentioned that I used the same hook as I did in making the purple thong. Which is about 1.5-2.00 mm.

By any chance... did you make a bra to go with this? Or any bra/thong, bra/g-string, bra/panty,bra/boy shorts set making Shari Mor's column dress for my b-day & I'd love to make something to go under it. Thank you much. I can be reached by email @ eatmecrochet.babies@gmail.com Again, thank you.

  4. Unfortunately I did not make a bra to go with it, nor do I have any bra/panty patterns that I have written.

  7. what does around the corner mean?

  8. Sorry for the delayed response. Around the corner means around the "corner" of what you're working on...so you begin doing stitches on one side and end up on the next side of the work because of the number of stitches you are doing in one hole. Hope this makes sense.

  9. I feel like a major idiot, but I'm stuck at the first step. I just can't tell whether or nor I am following along correctly. Pictures might help, for an as I go reference (but I understand that that takes a lot of time to do that). Once at Row 1, are you starting from inside the last stitch (where you slip-stitch to attach, after 4 single crochets in the same stitch? Next, it says "dc in next 2 sc" - Does that mean when you finish the 4 sc (which brings you around the corner again) that you are working back and forth in those few stitches in the end of the row to build up this design?... What I said likely makes no sense, and I'm probably just being an idiot seeing as I don't understand the instructions and everyone else seems to, and I'm not sure if you will get this as this post is several years old, but it's worth a shot.

  10. Still here after all these years :) I hate when people abandon their blogs! I think pics for the process would be a great idea, wish I thought about that when I was making it though. It has been a while since I've done this pattern, so I will try to help as best I can, but I make no promises. The panties have seemed to walk off as well, so I don't have anything to look at :( give me a couple days to try to figure it out.

  11. After you do your 4 sc, you join with the beg. ch. to make a complete row, then you ch up 3 for Row 1, which creates the beg. of the next row. You are working in the round at the beginning when you make the middle string, then you begin creating the triangle shape by increasing each row. So yes, what you say makes sense.
